Child & Teen Counseling

Worried about your child or teen?

Kids and teens face big feelings, school pressure, friendship struggles, and family changes, and they don't always have the words to explain what's wrong. Child and teen counseling at Trinity Care of Ohio gives young people a safe, supportive place to be heard, and gives parents practical tools to help at home. We see children, teens, and families at our Perrysburg and Sylvania offices, and virtually.

How counseling can help your child:

  1. Coping Skills: Children learn healthy ways to calm down, manage worry, and handle frustration.
  2. Emotional Expression: Play, art, activity, and talk-based approaches help kids put their feelings into words.
  3. Confidence and Self-Esteem: Teens build a stronger sense of who they are and what they can do.
  4. Healing From Hard Experiences: Trauma-informed care, including EMDR, helps young people process difficult events.
  5. Stronger Families: Parents get guidance and strategies so progress continues at home.

Common Reasons Families Reach Out

Parents often reach out for help with anxiety and worry, depression or withdrawal, ADHD and focus, anger and behavior, trauma, grief and loss, bullying, divorce or blended-family changes, self-esteem, and school stress.

What to Expect

The first visit is an assessment where we learn about your child's history, strengths, and what you are seeing at home and school. From there, your child's therapist builds trust at their pace, using age-appropriate approaches like play, art, activities, and conversation. Parents stay involved through regular check-ins. Sessions are 55 minutes, in person or by secure video, with evening and weekend appointments available by request.

Insurance and Cost

We accept many insurance plans, including CareSource, Anthem Medicaid, and UnitedHealthcare Medicaid, as well as Anthem, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medical Mutual, Paramount, Optum, and UMR. We take care of the insurance paperwork for you, and self-pay sessions are also available. See our full list of accepted insurance and fees.
